Dental Sealants

Keep your back teeth safe from cavities with a clear protective coating.

Why Are Sealants So Effective?

Dental sealants are a simple and highly effective way to protect your back teeth from cavities. A thin, protective coating is applied to the chewing surfaces of molars, especially where deep grooves and pits tend to trap food and bacteria.

The process is quick, painless, and creates a strong barrier that shields these vulnerable areas. By sealing off the grooves, the risk of cavities can be reduced by up to 80%—often before decay even begins.

Sealants are a smart preventive step, especially for children and teens, but they can benefit adults too. Keeping molars protected means fewer dental issues down the road and a healthier, longer-lasting smile.

Who Can Benefit from Sealants?

Sealants are a great option for many people, and they're especially beneficial for:

Children

  • We often recommend applying sealants to a child's permanent molars as soon as they come in, usually around ages 6 and 12. This gives them immediate, long-lasting protection.

Adults

  • People of all ages can get sealants, and they are particularly helpful for adults who are at a higher risk of developing decay in their back teeth.
The Application Process

Getting Sealants is a Simple and Quick Procedure

01

Cleaning

First, we thoroughly clean the tooth to be sealed

02

Preparing the Tooth

We apply a special gel that creates a rougher surface on the tooth. This helps the sealant bond securely

03

Rinsing and Drying

The tooth is then rinsed and completely dried

04

Applying the Sealant

The liquid sealant is painted directly onto the grooves of the tooth and then hardened with a special light.

What to Consider

Even with sealants, maintaining good oral hygiene is a must. Regular brushing and flossing are still critical. We'll check your sealants during your routine dental check up to make sure they are still intact and providing full protection.
