FAQs

Common Dental Questions

The best time to visit the dentist isn't the same for everyone because everyone's teeth need different care. We usually tell our patients to have check-ups twice a year as part of a routine to stay healthy. However, if you have gum disease or other dental problems, we may suggest that you visit us more often. This will help us to check on your oral health and make sure that it is managed well.

Taking care of your teeth at home is super important! Here's how:

  • Brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.
  • Floss every day to get food and plaque out from between your teeth.
  • You can also use mouthwash to kill bacteria and freshen your breath.
  • Try to limit sugary and acidic foods and drinks.
  • Change your toothbrush every 3-4 months, or when the bristles look worn out.
  • And don't forget, your regular dental visits help a lot too!

When you come in for an appointment, here's what you can expect:

  • First, we'll chat with you about any worries you have about your teeth or gums, and what you hope to achieve for your smile.
  • Next, your dentist will do a thorough check-up and take any necessary X-rays. After that, they'll explain what they found and suggest any treatments you might need.
  • Our goal is to give you all the information so you can make the best decision for your dental health.

Yes, dental X-rays are very safe at our clinic! Our dentists and hygienists use them to get a full picture of your oral health. We use advanced digital X-ray equipment which means you get about 80% less radiation compared to older film X-rays.
If you've had digital X-rays taken at another dental office, just ask them to send them to us. It makes your visit much smoother!

You should change your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months. If you use it longer, the bristles get worn out and won't clean your teeth as well.

No, you don't need a referral from a doctor to visit us. We're always happy to welcome new patients, even if you're coming from another dental office. Just ask your previous clinic to send us your X-rays or dental records to make your transition smooth.

Regular dental visits are important for keeping your teeth and gums healthy, and even for your overall health! These visits help prevent problems like cavities and gum disease. They also make your teeth stronger and help you keep your smile bright.

It's helpful to know what to look out for! Here are some early signs that you might have a dental problem:

  • Sensitive teeth
  • Pain when you bite or chew
  • Swollen or tender gums
  • Bleeding when you brush or floss
  • Gums that seem to be pulling away from your teeth (receding gums)
  • Teeth that look dark or discolored
  • Bad breath or a bad taste in your mouth
  • Changes in how your teeth fit together when you bite, or how your dentures fit.

If you notice any of these symptoms, it's a good idea to schedule a dental check-up right away.
