Get your perfect smile back by improving the gum line that surrounds your teeth.

What Is Crown Lengthening?

Crown lengthening is a surgical procedure performed by a gum specialist doctor to expose more of a tooth's surface. Our dental experts specializing in gum treatment at Saphire Dent in Dubai, performs this procedure by carefully lowering the gum line and, if needed, adjusting the bone around the tooth.

This procedure is typically done for two main reasons:

  • For a "Gummy Smile": If your smile shows too much gum tissue, crown lengthening can re-shape the gum line to reveal more of your teeth, creating a balanced and attractive smile.
  • To Prepare for a Crown: A dental crown needs enough healthy tooth structure to attach to. If a tooth is broken, decayed, or worn down, crown lengthening provides the necessary surface area for a new crown or bridge to be placed securely.

Working Process

The Crown Lengthening Procedure

01

First, your dentist at Saphire Dent dental clinic will perform a dental check-up and a consultation to discuss your health and take X-rays. This helps us ensure the procedure is right for you

02

The surgery is an outpatient procedure, meaning you go home the same day. Your specialist will use a local anesthetic to make sure you are comfortable

03

The gum doctor will gently pull back the gum tissue to reach the tooth and bone

04

After removing any excess gum or bone, they will clean the area and use small stitches to close the gums back around the tooth.
